From the Land of Lost Content may well be the last book to describe the Tibet of old." It recreates the tragedy of Tibet as vividly and compellingly as though the story had never been written before." This description may be from another edition of this product.

An excellent account of the Chinese takeover of Tibet. Barber interviews a cross section of Tibetan society, from the top officials to the lowest peasant, to show how the invasion effected the entire society. Barber is not a Tibet-o-phile, but is an anti-communist. I believe that his other books also are about societies under siege by communists.
