connecting old and new

This book connects the history of the old and new testaments so well. So much of the time, we never see the whole panorama of God's plan and his working in every area of the Bible. Since the Babylonian captivity is such a pivotal point to linking the whole Old testament to the time period of the prophets and the proper context of each, this book can do that. Also, many ideas were introduced in the New testament that makes us wonder where they came from, such as the pharisees and the synagogue. This book does a good job of suggesting the origin of these. It also shows what went on during the captivity concerning the spiritual growth of the Jews.It also shows what was happening in the what we call the 400 silent years which were so important to understanding the New testament. I highly recommend it and it is easy to read.
