Created by FranklinCovey, the world-renowned leader in helping organizations enhance individual effectiveness, this edition fully reflects today's online media and global business challenges. The only style guide used in FranklinCovey's own renowned Writing Advantage TM and Technical Writing Advantage TM programs, it covers everything from document design and graphics to sentence style and word choice. This edition's many improvements include extensive new coverage of graphics, writing for online media, and international business English. Through dozens of examples and model documents, writers learn how to overcome "writer's block" and efficiently create documents from start to finish. FranklinCovey's experts show how to get powerful results from every email; add distinctiveness and power to any online presence; write far more effective proposals, letters, memos, reports, and resumes; and improve all forms of documentation, from business procedures to highly technical content. You'll learn how to quickly discover and prioritize the information you need, whether you're planning a presentation, leading a meeting, or managing a project. The authors reveal how to design visuals that communicate messages instantly and intuitively, and use charts, color, illustrations, maps, photos, and tables to supercharge any presentation. Packed with up-to-the-minute examples, this A-Z guidebook can help you write more effectively no matter who you are -- whether you're a business or sales professional who must motivate and persuade, a technical professional who must explain challenging content more clearly and accurately, or a student who needs stronger writing skills to succeed in school and in your career.
I'm an instructor / developer with a large midwest insurance company. In that role, I teach writing skills to our employees. While I have many other style guides, this book by FranklinCovey is a delightful surprise. It has 440 magazine quality pages with vivid color illustrations, side bars, explanations, definitions, descriptions, and examples. If you're looking for a comprehensive style guide that you'll be happy with on your first purchase, make this book your first choice.

I recently purchased the Franklin Covey Style Guide as one of the text books for a class I was taking. I had never heard of this book and I can't figure out why! Anyone that EVER writes any business communications or does presentations should have a copy of the Style Guide on their desk! This book has it all...sample documents and letters, examples of graphics, you name it. I am so excited about this book that I couldn't wait to tell my peers at work about it. You can bet there will always be a copy on my desk. As a member of Toastmasters I know that effective speeches have to be well written before they can be delivered. This book has great tips for writing effectivly...whether it is a technical document, a memo, or a speech. If you want people to start noticing your documents, buy this guide. It can improve your writing skills so that you are ready for that promotion, and the section on resumes can help you get the job! The guide is easy to use, organized in alphabetical order, and includes lots of examples. The thing I like the best is that each section has a summary on the first page, highlighting the key points of the section. I also appreacite the bias-free language. If you do any writing at all, you can't afford NOT to buy this book!
Easy and useful

I have found this book to be useful and user friendly. It covers not only the typical grammar and punctuation questions, but information on document design and formats. It also includes model documents for letters, memos, and others. One table of contents lists subjects alphabetically and one lists them topically. Everything in the book is listed alphabetically: Bias-free Language comes right before Bibliographies. The beginning page of each entry includes a light blue box with the rules listed. Then each "rule" is expanded in a clear way with examples. I have found the answer to almost every question I've had. And they have been so much easier to find than looking up each mention of a topic from the index as you have to do with some style manuals.
