This book is a taste of West Texas.

This is a truely enjoyable book. As a nurse in West Texas I see the dangers of oil field work every day. Jodi Thomas brings out the subtle humor of the men who live here and the bold intelligence of the women they marry. A great story and a taste of the real West Texas.

Still Not Sure

I had to add a review because a previous reviewer complained that the identity of the survivor was revealed too quickly. I finished the book several days ago, and I'm still not sure if it was Shelby or Jimmy. That being left in question was the second surprise of the book. The first was plunging into a Jodi Thomas book and finding myself in a contemporary story rather than a tale of the old west. A real change for her, but...

strong character study

EXCELLENT!!

This book was excellent! It had been recommended on one of my book groups online, so I thought I'd try it. After I read the back cover of the book, I wasn't sure if I would like it. Well, I couldn't put it down! The characters were well thought out, the writing was fast paced and the storyline was superb! I haven't enjoyed a good read like this in quite awhile.
