Growing Up In The Army Is Tough

Wade Everett/Will Cook doesn't write any better than when he is writing about the US Cavalry of the 19th Century. He loved that segment of the Old West, and it shows in his stories about the army. This is another of those excellent stories. Mel Lunsford was the son of Colonel Lunsford the commanding officer at Fort Starke and young Lunsford was army watching and learning through the long hot days of battle after battle with the Apaches. Two patrols had been wiped out, a third was now missing, and there seemed no escape from Fort Starke....
