Forgive the Wind is a compelling family saga about a soldier who lost his leg in the Civil War, and a young woman who was kidnapped and forced into prostitution. Together, with the support and friendship of a cast of characters I have come to love, the two reach out to one another and overcome the horrors of their pasts. Cindy's vivid writing style promises a visit to the Old West. Enjoy the vacation. Warning: You won't be able to put this one down until the last page.

If I could only take 5 books with me to an island, cindy holby's "wind" series would be the ones I'd take. They are incredible.Chase the Wind, Wind of the Wolf,Crosswinds, and Windfall are the prequels to this Forgive the Wind entity. I strongly recommend that you buy them all and then read them from the beginning. It is inspired, talented writing. Since I felt that this one was the 'least inspired'of the series I had to rate it only a 4......I mentally gave 6's to some of the others. This continuation brings all the players back into view and thier continued growth and interdependence on each other's friendship is wonderful They remain so strong as individual characters that you just have to love each of them. This story is mostly about how the tragedy of the past impacts our lives forever and how 2 people have finally managed to overcome the fear that gripped them. And the healing powers of friendship and faith.Enjoy. Great job CH
wonderful "Wind" Americana historical romance

After losing a leg during the Civil War, Caleb Connors heads west. In the Wyoming Territory he breaks his remaining limb. With a chicken pox epidemic devastating the area, only Amanda Myers is available to nurse Caleb back to health, which she does. However, the nurse falls in love with her patient, but assumes Caleb could never reciprocate those feelings with a fallen woman like she is as she was forced to live in a brothel and while there became addicted to opium. Caleb actually loves his angel of mercy. He helps her fight her addiction, but though he confesses his love she rejects him for his sake until she sees the portrait he painted of her. The latest "Wind" Americana historical romance (see WIND OF THE WOLF and WINDFALL) provides a deep entertaining look at Wyoming during the end of the Civil war and beginning of the Reconstruction Era. However, unlike the previous tales the violence that existed is ignored as if Lynch Ranch is an oasis that avoids the dangerous marauding and outlawry that plagued the Territory. Still the lead couple is a delightful pairing of two likable individuals mentally devastated by the war and in the case of Caleb physically too. The Cindy Holby nineteenth century sagas are fabulous tales worth chasing after as they are pleasant and vibrant reads. Harriet Klausner
Emotionally moving addition to this saga

Cindy Holby continues her Duncan-Lynch series with this newest installment. Ranch hand Caleb struggles to pick up the pieces of a life shattered by the trauma of the Civil War, while Amanda, rescued from forced prostitution, must heal from years of sexual abuse. Jenny and Chase must a range war and deal with the devastating loss of a beloved family member. I must wonder if another reviewer actually read this book, because western violence is far from ignored. The Duncans must deal with a brutal range war both in this novel and its predecessor, "Windfall." Holby gives us a sweet, sensitive romance and a painfully accurate portrait of a sexual abuse survivor. We can't help but cheer this charming, wounded couple as Caleb rediscovers his manhood despite an amputated leg, and Amanda as she rebuilds her scarred life. Excellent addition to the "Wind" saga. Also recommend the other books in this series, "Chase the Wind" "Wind of the Wolf" "Crosswinds" and "Windfall." Ms. Holby also writes fantasy under the name Colby Hodge, and recently released the excellent space adventure "Stargazer."
