How a 2,000-year-old letter can revolutionize your life. The Apostle Paul was a wise saint who often revealed a crusty attitudeespecially when the truth of the gospel was under attack. So when he... This description may be from another edition of this product.
It is hard to believe that the first reviewer actually read "Foolish No More". It is more believable that he used this as a platform to push a personal agenda and philosophy - unfortunate, but not unheard of in today's environment. This book was worth the money and the time if you want to get a different perspective on Christianity; one that is true to the bible, but focuses principally on just one book, Galatians. It is in this book of the new testament where we can find a picture of how today's "church" is supposed to be - regardless of denomination. Those who follow Christ will be inspired and refreshed at a closer look what is my favorite book of the new testament. I will admit though, calling some of his insights "Haggardisms" didn't do anything for me. I would have preferred he put them in "call out" boxes or side bars and just called them "things to remember". But, if I've learned anything from the book, I know that such a thing means nothing in the grand scheme of who he is in Christ. Nevertheless, it's one man's opinion as it relates to writing style. Frankly, it's the only reason I give the book 4 stars instead of 5. If you find this work on grace refreshing, I would highly recommend "Messy Spirituality" by Mike Yaconelli as well. It is written in a similar vein, but I found it even more compelling...to the point that I read it a second time immediately after the first, because I was so disappointed it ended. Lastly, I was delighted and surprised at the ending of this book. Haggard spends the last pages talking about sex within marriage - but in this case doesn't call any of his insights "Haggardisms", while I found them as profound and as "right on" as any of his others - these last pages alone are worth the price of the book for anyone with a struggling marriage.
