This is a wonderfully well written book about a family with a secret. Dyslexia is not uncommon, but people don't want to discuss it. This book handles the subject well. Written for the pre-teen, it would be a good book to have on the reading schedule in the upper elementary or middle school grades.
An Excellent Novel

This is an excellent novel geared to pre-teens and young adults. I found it to be a compelling read and the characters and their relationships were drawn in a realistic manner. The book is about a young girl who discovers that her older brother is unable to read -- and before the book ends, discovers that another family member has a similar secret. The book does an excellent job of portraying the feelings and inner most fears of dyslexic children and adults, as well as recognizing commonly shared talents. At the same time, the focus of the book is on the responsibility of the individual's for making needed changes in their own lives, and it provides an empowering message to all young readers.
