Since my early days in the aviation industry in the late 1970s, "Flight Without Formulae" was the book that enabled me to get a simple yet comprehensive insight into the fascinating subject of flying. The author made the book accessible by clearly explaining the principles of flight without using formulae. This is a delightful little book to read for aviation enthusiasts and is small enough to easily to carry around for easy reference. It is quite remarkable that although the book was published over 60 years ago, it is still a classic for those that wish to learn the basics of flight. Even the mathematical minded like myself find the book a pleasure to read and it succinctly and expertly lays out the basic concepts in an easy way to follow and understand. The author, A. C. Kermode is the renowned author of another classic, "Mechanics of Flight", which is larger and is a good complement to this book which I also recommend. Both books are presented in clear simple English enabling them to be easily understood by anyone with an interest in aviation.
