htful. More than just a how-to book of finding people.

Noel Elliot has compiled a book that is a work in progress for anyone interested in locating a long lost friend, a distant relative, or simply researching family history. The Internet is a wealth of information, but knowing where to start can take years of painstaking fumbling and searching through thousands of different potential websites to know exactly which ones are relevant. Without becoming paying members of some of the most important websites there is no way to know if the site is of value to the searcher. The book is not just a guide to finding people on the Internet, it includes visionary insight into the Internet of the future and its impact on our lives. Even the most seasoned genealogists will learn new sources of information. The author shares some of his "tricks" for making successful Internet searches that go beyond simply finding someone by using the Internet. Reading the book, it becomes very clear what a vast amount of information is known about each one of us if anyone is seriously interested in finding such information. In that regard the book opens eyes regarding secrecy of personal information. It is interesting and a footnote to the way the world is becoming smaller and smaller that I am writing this review living in Japan.
