I have several books about the moon from the Apollo missions perspective through to Rukl's Atlas, Hatfield's photographic atlas and several look and see guides. This book was a surprise in that the author is from the southern hemisphere and presents the moon in a way that southerners see it. The author, Steve Massey is well known in the amateur arena especially for his work in the area of video and planetary imaging. I have both his books on Video Astronomy which I have found very useful. Exploring the Moon is well illustrated with numerous pictures taken from small telescopes used by the author and reads in a very friendly style. Massey gives a nighlty account of what to look for and where to look. I really enoyed his account of how the moon has been blamed for the illnesses and madness activities of those who claim it as being the very cause. I also liked his comment on the conspiracy theories of those who seek to question whether the Moon landings really took place. The book also has a very handy guide to telescopes and image processing. I highly recommend this book as one of the finest pocket guides for any amateur astronomers library. I give it only 4 stars because its binding is tight and can be a little difficult to use at the telescope.
Very good compact read

Written in a nice candid style and found it to be a very practical reference guide. The night by night account of what can be observed easily through small telescopes and supporting pictures is very good. Nicely illustrated with handy guide at the back on telescopes, accessories and basic photography of the moon. Very impressed at the thorough index, something that is often lacking in so many reference books. Good value for such a compact guide that covers quite a lot.
Excellent book about the moon

This book does a great job of covering most everything about the moon. It is well laid out and keeps your interest. I highly recommend this book, it is 10 times better than the other book I tried to read about the moon by firefly books. For the money you can't beat this one.
