KILLER OR TARGET?Dr. Kelly Irving knew her husband, attorney Jack Harbaugh, was acting strangely, but figured they'd get through it. When she backed out of her garage that morning, she thought her car hit a bump. Instead, its progress was stopped by the body of a man her husband her husband recently represented. Not only that, the dead man had been shot by her husband's gun. The police who investigated made it clear that Jack was a primary suspect. Kelly couldn't decide if Jack was a murderer or marked as the next victim. As things continued to escalate, they were forced to put their marital differences aside and concentrate on keeping Jack alive while discovering who was behind the whole thing.
Emergency Case by Richard L. Mabry is an intriguing novella not to be missed by readers who enjoy fast-paced mysteries. Although this author is known for medical thrillers, this story has little to do with the medical world and yet is interesting and keeps the reader's attention, wondering how in the world the situations will turn out. Jack is a lawyer who has taken on a case that just might be his last case and his physician wife is quickly entangled in the danger as well. Great characters, a quick-moving plot, and a mystery that has several twists that one doesn't see coming all keep the pages quickly turning. The narrator of this audiobook, Bill Nevitt, does a great job giving voice to the characters and their story, making for an enjoyable listening experience. I listened to a complimentary copy of the audio version of the book and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.
