Listen along with Ravi to Grandfather's captivating stories about India, where the sun is like a ferocious tiger and monsoon rains cascade like waterfalls. Notes after the story include facts about India's animals, food, culture and religion, and a simple elephant dance music score.
I teach 6th grade ELA and World Geography. I initially intended to use this book because of the author's rich use of similes but after reading it I fell in love with it's tidbits of information about India. I teach a big unit on India in my geography class and this book helped introduce my students to many of the words and vocabulary that they learn during the unit. The pictures are also beautiful.

I used this book to introduce my 3rd grade art class to India and Indian culture. It could be used for younger children, but it does a good job of giving the basic flavor of India to the reader. It's very quick and simple, and the illustrations are playful and fun.
