Hidden gem

Too bad this book is out of print. I was fortunate enough to happen upon a used copy at a flea market last weekend. I've read (and usually owned) every book I can find on the subject of troubleshooting solid-state consumer electronic equipment and this is the most useful one I have found. He includes flowcharts, which I like, and uses schematics of actual products, like tape recorders and guitar amplifiers. Most books on this subject take the reader down to the individual component or stage level, and fail to consider how it all functions together as a complete circuit. With solid-state amplifiers, it is essential to consider the circuit as a whole, because they are usually direct coupled and use extensive feedback. Oleksy (sic) addresses the entire circuit, using modern examples. The book probably didn't stay in print due to the regrettably generic title. If it were titled something the least bit more descriptive, like "Troubleshooting Modern Solid-State Electronics," it would probably still be in print.
