A leading expert on the paranormal, with the help of his psychic wife, introduces readers to the world on the other side, presenting the personal stories of their ghostly subjects in their own words... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I have read a lot of material on the paranormal, and I still found this book highly intriguing. I recently started doing some paranormal investigations myself, and one thing I totally agree with Coddington about is the concept of asking your Guides for protection prior to conducting any sort of spiritual investigation. These are forces that should not necessarily be feared, but always respected.
What a great book!

This was one on the most interesting books I've read on the subject of the paranormal. It paints an intriguing picture on life on the "other side." Although I should hope that none of us will become trapped like these poor spirits. The historically rich atmosphere of old Virginia does much to add to the books appeal. However, I'd think these stories would be amazing in any setting.I also strongly recommend Mr. Coddington's earlier book, 'Death Brings Many Surprises.'
An Interesting and Intriguing Look at Spirit Communication
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 26 years ago
The author and his wife, a medium whose body earthbound spirits temporarily inhabit in order to communicate, find a dozen or so spirits lingering around Virginia homes. Most of them don't realize they have died and are quite surprised when the author tries to question them. He asks the spirit to identify itself and the spirit sometimes reacts by asking what business it is of his. It can be both humorous and sad at the same time. For one reason or another, these earthbound spirits have not entered the light and gone on to the other side. The author's questions are aimed at finding out why and then helping the spirit to make a proper transition to the "other side." It's the best work of its kind among a dozen or so books of this nature that I have read. The author is objective, analytical, and credible.
Excellent writing, fascinating subject.

Mr. Coddington's prose is a joy to read, as always. His attitude is eminently sane and low pressure in demanding belief of the reader. Nonbelievers can read the book as charming fiction, if they choose. I was particularly pleased with the positive emotional effect of the book. The Coddingtons come through as wonderfully courageous, practical, cheerful and well balanced people. This book is a far cry from the sort of fuzzy-thinking, ill-written literature that has given books on the paranormal a bad name over the centuries. Would that we had more authors of Mr. Coddington's calibre interested in the subject!
