Excellent

“Dream With Little Angels” by Michael Hiebert is a dark mystery set in small-town Alabama during the 1980s. The story is narrated by Abe Teal, an 11-year-old boy whose mother is the town’s only detective. Abe is a fun, lovable character who provides playfulness and comic relief to the to the dreadful case at hand: little girls are going missing. Abe leads the reader through twists and turns in the story in a way that is highly evocative of Scout Finch from “To Kill A Mockingbird.” Hiebert’s work here is well done. This is one of the best books I’ve read in a while, and I look forward to reading the other books in this series.
