Hosea 6 declares, "Come, let us return to the LORD . . . let us press on to know the LORD . . . And He will come to us like the rain."This verse is the essence of Downpour, a revival-ready book by Pastor James MacDonald.MacDonald writes with the desire to witness an absolute soaking of God's Spirit on the church in North America. He is grieved by statistics showing little or no difference between the lifestyles of professing Christians and their nonbelieving neighbors, and he counters that with a five-point outline that charts the pathway to personal revival.

An eye opener!

When I read the chapter on repentance I realized that I didn't have any godly sorrow in my life. That could have only meant that I had never truly repented and been saved. I started pleading with God for this godly sorrow and some time later in the evening it was granted to me. I repented of my sins and prayed Romans 10:9! That was on Feb 9th 2010 (last night). I feel like a new person now because I am. I recommend this book to anyone!

Has your relationship with the Lord lost its freshness? Has it grown a little stale? If so, James MacDonald's new book, Downpour, offers some much needed guidance. Times of refreshing are available from the Lord if we are willing to cooperate with the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives as He labors to ignite a personal revival in each of our hearts. MacDonald identifies and explains five essential ingredients if genuine revival is going to happen. We must learn to see God on the throne, sin in the mirror, self in the dirt, Christ on the cross, and the Spirit in control. This book is well written. MacDonald is articulate and concise, easy to follow, and enjoyable to read. He purposely avoided lots of illustrations (this is explained in the introduction) and while this is often detrimental, it seemed to streamline the flow of thought and increase the readability. Its primary strength is derived from its Scriptural base. MacDonald does not present his opinions and preferences; he turns to the Bible and calls us to obey its teachings. I give this book a strong recommendation. Many in the Church who have been Christians for a while would describe their faith as being a little dull, predictable, and even uninteresting. And while this is unfortunate, it is not incurable. MacDonald helps us refocus on essential biblical truth. Pick up this book, read it thoroughly, and then pass it on to a friend.
Incredible study...one of the BEST!

This is an incredible study on personal revival!! It ranks right up there with Henry Blackaby's "Experiencing God." I have gone through the workbook twice already. We have taught it to our youth twice and our entire church once. A must-read for every Believer in Christ! This one should be reviewed regularly as a refresher!
