A down-to-earth, inspirational novel in which a single mother takes a vow of celibacy and discovers that trying to be good will make her want to be so bad. With a little counsel from the church minister's wife - and a little inspiration from the sight of her son's handsome English teacher Wallace Peters - advertising executive Grace decides to keep her mind open and her clothes on...no matter how hard the Devil chases her.
I have debated whether I should give this a 2 or 3 star rating for the following reasons:
1. This book really drags on too long to get to the point. 2. Grace is too full of herself, and I cannot imagine her being friends with Linda and Sheila. 3. Grace sends the wrong message that she is jekly and Hyde behind closed doors. 4. The reference to the Plato incident is rather farfetched. 5. the relationship with her and Wallace is so fake.
The saving grace for this work is the end which was not expected and shocking.
Totally Captivating

This book touched me like no other could. It seems that this author is very in touch with his female side as he writes with a knowingness that many men today do not have. Grace is strong but soft, and yet she understands that at some point in her life she must learn to trust a Higher power and a human. I think all of todays Black women should read this book because this group, black women, have become so independent that they feel they don't need men. Grace is a perfect example of why we do. This book is another or Victor McGlothin's heart wrenching stories. I look forward to the next one.

Victor has done it again with this great story! This story is a great read for any woman who is struggling spiritually with finding their soul mate and letting go physically and letting God have his way in his time. All good things happen in time if you are willing to be patient and believe in him. Thanks Victor for another great book!

Victor McGlothin has raised the standard for Christian Fiction. "Down On My Knees" is a spiritual awakening that explores the naked truth about Sex, Celibacy, and the Single Sistah. This novel is exactly what Black women are looking for to war against carnal demons that frequently sabatoge our relationships, hopes and dreams of marriage. "Down On My Knees" is christian fiction at it's best.
