Friendship is Forever

Aristotle says there are three kinds of friendships. Friendships based on things you have in common like books, bowling, stamp collecting. Friendships based on need to get along like neighbors, colleagues. And then friendships based on virtue. One of the things I loved about Double Lives is how the friendships encompassed all three types of friendship even when for example at one point Hemingway no longer had "need" for Fitzgerald.
