Dorothy Day was born in NYC in 1897 and passed away in 1980. She was considered a radical in her time and fought tirelessly for a woman's right to vote and was active in the peace movement. She established "Hospitality Houses" for people in need. She was inspired by the Catholic faith and converted to Catholicism in 1927. She came from a wealthy family but lived among the poor.
