A Great First Book for Learning Visual Basic 5

I recommend this book to anyone who has just installed Visual Basic 5(VB5), and is not sure how to use it. The book starts by walking you through the creation of a bitmap and icon viewer program in the first 24 pages that shows you the basics of creating a program. There is a 5 chapter section that explains the VB5 environment and the basic pieces of a VB5 program. There is a 5 chapter section on creating the form and controls, and a 6 chapter section on VB5 programming. It finishes up with two chapters on hooking to databases, and files. Everytime a new concept is introduced, an example program shows you how to implement the concept. The book is well written, explanations are clear, computer entry is easy to do and understand. I found only three errors in 411 pages. One typo, one missing bitmap, and one missing line of code, all easily corrected. The programs all work. There is a cd with the book that has the programs, with additional software and components. If you want to learn VB5 programming, and you don't know where to start, get this book.
