Hoping to restore her reputation by marrying the trouble-making Devlin, unwed mother Angelica prepares for a new life on Devlin's Washington ranch and is surprised when she falls in love with her... This description may be from another edition of this product.
When I started this series, I actually read Shannon’s story (written by Connie Mason) first. After a bit of research, I realized there were more books about her family. Even then I kept wondering what happened to Devlin and even thought they he’d show up in Shannon’s story when they mentioned a skinner stranger at the fort. Either way, it was good to see that he was able to straighten out his life and come to accept love. It was also nice to see Angelique realize her love for him kinda early on and try to make their relationship work even after having reason to mistrust men (based on what Lamar did to her). A lot of times it gets down to the last 15-30 pages before the characters profess their love and accept the inevitable. They both had their doubts because of past experiences, but it didn’t lead them to stupid and frustrating situations. Even though there was a slight reunion of the Branigan family, I would’ve liked to have seen them all reunited and the families all brought back together...bringing Shannon and Blade from Cheyenne and Rachael and Gavin from the Basin.
