The book "Desserts" is published as the 6th item in the series "Old kitchen recipes from Central Europe". The presented recipes were popular over 120 years ago in Central Europe - from Lithuania to Austria. The author, Maria Ochorowicz-Monatowa, practiced at the imperial court in Vienna and published extensively on nutrition. Some of the recipes in this book may seem bizarre (that's how they used to cook!), but most of them describe how to make really tasty dishes. A cake, similar to one described in the book, was made once a year by my grandmother - it was a very laborious and expensive cake. Everyone got one piece that was too small, and it was an event that was remembered for a long time. There are over 500 recipes for various desserts in the book, divided into the following chapters: Sweet puddings (Ice cream and bombs, Jellies, Creams or Blanc-manger); Cakes, pastries and bread (Cakes and mazurkas, Tea biscuits; Yeast cakes); compotes; Jams, jellies, plum jam and juices.
