Meditations Inspired by the Sonoran Desert is a very small contribution to the growing awareness among the new people of the desert: the snowbirds and casual visitors. They realize this desert calls each of us to share something of the spirit that invigorates, heals, and continues to invite us into a relationship with a grace-filled God. The native peoples of the Sonoran Desert are firmly rooted in the experience of the mysterious and the sacred. Their ancestral legends and stories tell us of a people who experienced the presence of God in the ordinary and extraordinary moments of daily life. The native peoples developed a seamless consciousness of spirituality that-over the centuries-became woven into the very fabric of their being. This spiritual consciousness was animated by their ability to see and recognize an always-present Creator God.
