In the spring of 1862, 19-year old Wiley Nesmith kissed his beautiful young bride goodbye, then marched off to war. Before leaving, he promised her he'd be home soon. But that wasn't to be. For the... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I just finished Deep in the Heart, which I enjoyed very much. I found it very realistic as to the horrors of war, both as to the military and civilians. Perhaps i will get a chance to read more of E. Randall Floyd's work in the future.
Painful History

Deep in the Heart opened my eyes to the war in a way I never thought imaginable. As a citizen of Germany, I always thought what I read about the American Civil War was phoney--too much Hollywood! Herr Floyd's tale touched me deeply as an honest portrayal of the people and events of that period. A word to Hollywood: Keep Scarlett O'Hara and Tara plantation--give me more people like Martha Ann NeSmith and Wilkinson County, Georgia!
Excellent book about my favorite subject...

Several of my friends had told me about this book. I picked up a copy in Birmingham, thinking I could read it on a week-long vacation. I was hooked the moment I opened the first page! Fast-moving, easy to read, but full of passion and emotion. The characters are so real, unlike the "moonlight and magnolia" stereotypes so often found in this genre. I enjoyed Mr. Floyd's book immensely, read it in two nights. More! More! More!
Great book! E. Randall Floyd is an excellent writer.

I was truly fascinated by this spellbinding book about seven young brothers from Georgia who go off to fight in the War Between the States. It was easy to read and lacked vulgar language and unnecessary sex scenes so commonplace among modern popular books. In fact, my 13-year-old son is now reading the book. His teacher wants to use the book in his Civil War honors class. I really enjoyed this book.
A must-read book for all Civil War enthusiasts!

This book captures the heart of the "old South" as few books have done since Gone With the Wind. But this book is about real people and real emotions, not phoney "magnolia and moonlight" aristocracy. It's a great war story, and an even greater war story.
