A Marine unit, accompanied by a science team, is deployed to investigate an iceberg larger than Manhattan that poses a threat of incalcuable scope as it flows against the current, leaving a path of destruction in its wake. And it's heading-aiming-for Hawaii. Their mission: to land on the floe itself, and do whatever it takes to disable the threat. But the mission turns out to be much more than expected when the threat becomes not the floe itself, but a prehistoric, predatory, species that puts every living creature in danger.
This book happens to be my personal favorite. It keeps you riveted and absolutely full of fear. This book is terrifying and grotesque, just the way I like it

IT'S DAWN OF THE DEAD MEETS INVADERS FROM MARS IN THIS SCIFI MILITARY THRILLER. AN ICE FLOW THE SIZE OF MANHATTAN PROPELS ITSELF AGAINST THE CURRENT FROM THE ANTARCTIC TO HAWAII. ON BOARD ARE AN EVIL HORD OF TRANSPARENT HUMAN EATING MONSTERS FROM WHO KNOWS WHERE. TWO LARGE MILITARY PLANES CARRYING A PLATOON OF MARINES, AND A SELECT GROUP OF SCIENTISTS LAND ON THE FLOW, HOPING TO DISCOVER IT'S PROPULSION SYSTEM, AND STOP IT, BEFORE THE FLOW REACHES HAWII. MANY OF THEM END UP AS DINNER FOR THE OTHERWORLDLY INHABITANTS OF THE FLOW. ENOUGH ACTION FOR ANY SCIFI, OR MILITARY ACTION THRILLER ADDICT. I LOOK FORWARD TO READING HIS BOOK "ZERO HOUR". If you like reading Michael Crichton books then chances are you will enjoy reading this one. Miller is a little more extreme on the gore. The characters lack a little charm, but his environmental and atmospheric descriptions will grip you for a horrifying ride. Each time it gets foggy around my home, I can't help but imagine a something slimy caressing my neck. Just thinking about it gives me the chills. This book has also given me a new interest and appreciation for marine biology.
