Book Overview

Essence bestselling author RM Johnson returns with the hotly anticipated follow-up to Million Dollar Demise. This electrifying novel features the Million Dollar characters fans have grown to love coming face-to-face with members of the Harris family, the unforgettable characters of Johnson's other bestselling series. It's his most dramatic--and passionate--installment yet. When Nate Kenny convinces Daphanie Coleman to sign over custody of her newborn baby to the father, his ex-wife Monica vows to help the young woman. But Monica is still recovering from a gunshot to the head that put her in a coma. Daphanie hires Austin Harris to help win her baby back, but divorced and lonely, Austin falls for Monica and tries to pull her into a relationship--one she is reluctant to start. Meanwhile, Caleb Harris, Austin's brother, must pay back a loan shark to save his family from home eviction. But debt isn't his only problem--his son has fallen deeper and deeper into crime. And as Daphanie struggles to win back her child, she must decide whether or not she will live by the rules of a man she despises in order to stay in her child's life. Deceit and Devotion is a gripping story of passion and revenge, and a tapestry of family, love and loyalty that must not be missed.

WAW (Weird and Wrong)

This is a good writer but a few of his works have fell flat and this is one of them. The storyline is rather crazy and stupid as "a soup sandwich". I couldn't never fathom this being realistic at all. The book has too many characters that you must deal with and the structure of it was whack. You have to read a little of it before the story tries to make sense. The minor characters appear to be more interested than the main characters. I am angry how the book ended. Apparently, there will be a sequel so you can find out what happened to the characters but believe me, I won't be buying it. This is so wrong to leave the readers in such a query about the outcomes. I hope this writer eventually get his groove back but at this time, I am not on board with him.
