Criminal psychologist Erin Larson's dreams of a successful career come to a screeching halt when she nearly loses her own life in a boating accident on Puget Sound and then learns that her mother tried to commit suicide. She leaves her job as a criminal psychologist to care for her mother in Montana. At least she is able to produce her podcast, which focuses on solving missing persons cold cases.
Nathan Campbell's father was investigating such a case when he was shot, and now Nathan needs to enlist Erin's help to solve the case. She's good at what she does. The only problem? She's his ex.
As the two dig deeper, it becomes clear that they, too, are being targeted--and that the answers to their questions are buried deep within the past Erin struggles to explain and longs to forget.
The race is on for the truth in this gripping and complex tale of suspense, intrigue, and murder from USA Today bestselling author Elizabeth Goddard.
"Goddard increases the stakes and highlights the power of hope, faith, and trusting God in the darkest times in this rush of a series entry."--Publishers Weekly
Elizabeth Goddard has done it again...another wow-I-did-not-see-that-coming kind of book. Having read the first book in the Rocky Mountain Courage series, I knew what to expect, and was not disappointed. The story starts out with an intentional boating collision and the edge-of-the-seat action continues until the end of the story. The characters are colorful and riveting, as well as realistic and either likable, relatable, or despicable. It was nice to catch up with a few of the characters from the first book in the series, Present Danger. Erin and Nathan had been involved in circumstances previously, and things did not end well. I enjoyed watching their relationship begin again and evolve into more than colleagues solving a couple of cold cases that might be related. I like how the author revealed things layer by layer, keeping me wondering how scenarios were ever going to work out. And when the truth was finally revealed it was quite surprising. Readers who love exciting, heart-stopping mysteries will not want to miss Deadly Target. It kept me eagerly reading until the very last page. I am sure hoping there is another book to come in the series. I won an advanced reading copy of the book through LibraryThing and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.

Here's my latest review y'all!!
To describe this book in one word: Epic!!
Erin Larson is a criminal psychologist- and her day job is beginning to wear her down. Evil lurks everywhere, and some days it's hard to see the good still around you. After a near-death experience on Puget Sound, Erin heads back home to Montana to take care of her mom who recently attempted suicide. While she's back in town she works on her side job as a cold cases podcaster, seeking clues from the public for cases that have been long abandoned.
Her former boyfriend, Nathan Campbell is local sheriff's deputy investigating the shooting of his detective father. His dad was determinedly working on a case someone obviously doesn't want solved. To top that, it looks as though crooked cops may be in on it as well.
When "coincidental" accidents and events start piling up, Nathan and Erin will have to put their heads together before someone ends up dead.
Kudos to Mrs. Goddard on a great book! I loved the intense maze of clues, constant twists and varied action! Can't wait to read the next book in the Rocky Mountain Courage series!
Suspenseful

Erin and Nathan are in a fight for their lives as they try to solve the cold case Nathan's dad was working on. There is danger at every turn. I really enjoyed this story, it was full of suspense and danger and even though I thought I knew who the villain was, I was wrong. The story is full of danger, romance, and mystery. It is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. I actually liked this one better than the first book.
Great Suspense

Deadly Target by Elizabeth Goddard is the second book in her Rocky Mountain Courage series. In one afternoon, Erin Lawson almost gets killed in a boating accident and then learns her mom has tried to commit suicide. While caring for her mom she is able to work on her podcast that focuses on missing person cold cases. Nathan Campbell needs Erin’s help to solve the cold case that his father was working on before he was shot. As they dig for answers, they become the next targets. This was a very suspenseful, edge-of-your-seat book! I stayed up way to late so I could finish it. The twist at the end was very surprising. Erin and Nathan were a great couple, they complemented each other very well.
I received this book from the author for my honest review.
Intriguing romantic suspense

Elizabeth Goddard once again combines intricately crafted plot, fast-paced action, nail-biting suspense with lovable characters to create a story that will take you on a wild journey to a surprising and totally unexpected ending. Though it is second book in the series, it can be read as a stand-alone.
Erin and Nathan are enjoyable characters but the book is definitely plot-driven. Cold cases, shadowy pasts, and unknown threats loom over Erin and Nathan as they dodge disasters and attempt to untangle the series of events, injuries, and deaths. If you enjoy romantic suspense, this book will hit the spot.
I received the book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are solely my own.
