Shooting a great portrait requires an intimate appreciation of light, composition, and mood, plus an ability to relate to the subject. Sometimes, even the best-laid plans for a productive session go awry. But with the help of this companion volume to the best-selling Creative Photoshop Lighting Techniques , plus the technical magic of Photoshop, photographers will master a repertoire of skills to restore, rebuild, and invigorate their portraits. More than 65 step-by-step tutorials demonstrate how to correct and enhance colors, create mixed lighting effects that once required expensive studio set-ups, and produce high- or low-key styles. You'll get tips on retouching, downplaying facial features, and correcting flaws. With guidance on lens and background effects, isolating and emphasizing the subject, and using monochrome studies, there's no limit to what you can achieve.
I found this book to be very informative to learn the basic techniques for cleaning up or enhancing portraits. The instructions are simple and easy to follow. The only thing I didn't like was that they don't say WHY a certain step is done. It would be helpful to understand the effect of a certain tool, so I would know when to apply it again.
