This Bible study series is great. Lisa is real, likable, and the advice is helpful. I've led this study at my church and absolutely nothing in this book is objectionable. There are hard line anti-corporal punishment nazis who blacklist this book, in addition to other books that do not object to corporal punishment. Lisa believes that spanking is appropriate in certain situations, as do I and every other mother I know. The point of this book and the Bible study, *however*, is to provide parents with effective alternatives to the usual swat on the tush that, let's face it, most kids ignore. Lisa suggests children should be held accountable, given choices when appropriate, and showered with loving guidance and grace as they move into adulthood. I don't know how anyone can argue with positive reinforcement and instilling values.

Buy the trade book instead

Lisa Whelchel's "Creative Correction" is a good parenting resource. I was skeptical about the study because my kids are both teenagers: what could I do to better parent at this stage in my kids' lives? But I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only did Lisa and the Lord have some parenting tips for me. They also had in mind to give me a better understanding of my own relationship as a child with God and my parents. I would recommend this study specifically to parents of younger children because they will definitely gain maximum benefit from it, but anyone who is (or plans to be) a parent or in a Christian leadership position would reap wisdom from it as well. However, the video teaching didn't give me anything that wasn't already in the workbook. And the material in the Bible study workbook comes directly from Lisa's trade book of the same name. So, buy that, instead.

Great Book

This book is just wonderful.......Definately a must read, the Lisa Whelchel Website was very helpful to me in making my "Purchasing" Decision. The study book, and book, have both led me to some scriptures that were much needed and appropriate for my situation......Praise God that Lisa followed God and wrote this book! I do not know where the first person got such horrible ideas from the book, maybe they should read it, as the other reveiwer had reccomended. My opinion when I bought the book, if I could get just one idea, just one, to help me it would be worth it....I have received a lot more that I planned!

Loving Godly Discipline

I LOVE this book and the Creative Correction Bible study I am going to at my local church. I am a mom of 3 and have been a teacher for 14 years and I find these ideas refreshing and innovative. They are ideas filled with common sense but the MOST important thing is they tie God's word into everyday situations and apply it in understandable ways to children's lives. The kids see that the Bible really does apply to them and can help guide them in their day to day relationships and choices and gives them a reason to make the right choice. I have chosen many ideas already to use in my home and will be using lots of others in my classroom as well. I haven't read another book that is so practical and helpful in raising children. If you actually READ it, you will see what I mean. Thank you so much for writing this!
