Was the book of Revelation penned by the crazy uncle in the family of Bible writers? You try to convince yourself that the apostle john is just another New Testament writer-kindly, gentle, loving. You know...normal.But he's just so weird Most of the time you have no idea what John is talking about in his revelation. When you must interact with his wild, otherworldly book, you escape as soon as you can to familiar, saner Bible texts. Now is your chance to explore the book of Revelation with your students-to glimpse at the never-ending worship to come, to grab hold of God's promises and his mercy, and to bring some ease to troubled hearts.
I am a seminary student and had to present a teaching moment on Revalations 12. This book is excellent and I am glad that I purchased it to use throughout again for all ages.
Excellent for young youth

Randy Southern's Creative Bible Lessons in Revelation is a fantastic, well laid out curriculum. It is adaptable to groups of various sizes and ages. I have been using it with a group of 25 middle school kids. The opening activites (there is a choice of two) are really great, always with a point, but sometimes they take a lot of time. I think each lesson would ideally take 90 minutes or even 2 hours. We have only 50 minutes for our Sunday morning class, so we have to cut back on the questions and some of the wacky games. But kids are really enjoying it. I love how he says this study is not going to identify the antiChrist or tell us when the world will end, but that it will show us something about true worship and about how Christ will come as judge at the end of time. So often we avoid teaching Revelation because there are many differing interpretations, all the while missing its mysterious but vivid depictions of heavenly worship. As a teacher, I like how Randy has given suggestions on what to say, without spelling everything out too carefully. It allows for some imagination and creativity on the teacher's part. Also, because there are 2 choices for opening activities, the course might be repeated without getting dull. My only suggestion for improvement would be to include the worksheets immediately following the first mention, rather than at the end of the lessons. It is sometimes a little confusing to figure out what is used where. I think this would be an awesome study for small groups or large youth groups. I look forward to trying another study in this series.
