Excellent start!

While I don't normally read romance I did read this book because this author is a friend of mine. In all honesty I was not expecting to become as involved with the character Libby as I did. At one point in the story I did part ways with what Libby did and it revealed to me how much I was involved with the story and how I identified with Libby's character. Libby gets herself into some comic situations that made me laugh out loud and the way the author expresses and addresses these situations is pure delight. Her writing style is unique and while I'm sure there is a "plan" to follow in writing romances, she manages to make it fresh and thoroughly enjoyable. There is a scene with wind that had me laughing out loud because I live here in Wyoming and anyone who lives here knows that dealing with wind is a daily chore!

A good cowboy romance...

This book had my heart at "chicken farm" . Having raised chickens previously in my life I knew I would like the book! After starting the first chapter i thought to myself..."This is what country songs are made of! " Our main character Libby lost her job, her boyfriend, and her dog died. It was the perfect start to a cowboy romance. The story line was great...city girl moves to the country and has to make her way on her own. The Mystery in the book was really interesting and kept the story moving quickly. I stayed on the edge of my seat for most of the book waiting to see what would happen to poor Libby next! The romance level was on spot and the intimate scenes were tastefully written. You'll definitely fall in love with the main characters. (I loved Luke!) Joanne's writing was just fluid and fun and the humorous moments in the book were really funny. This is one of those books that I kept checking to see how many pages were left because I didn't want it to end! I think Ms. Kennedy had it right when she wrote this book and I look forward to reading more of her work!

Cowboy Trouble

All romances have a set formula and guaranteed happy ending. I should know, I've read a million of them. So for a contemporary romance to keep my interest, it has to have that little bit of something extra that sets it apart. I found that in Joanne Kennedy's book, Cowboy Trouble. The first thing that made me laugh and endeared me to the book's heroine, Libby Brown, was her big fat lie about owning a ferocious guard dog. Believe me, she had handsome rancher Luke Rawlins stepping lightly on her front steps. Then her insisting that he refer to her chicken farm as a 'chicken ranch', and to her flock of chickens as a 'herd of chickens', hooked me on this feisty lady. Luke Rawlins, a tough but sensitive man, wants to make a ranchers wife out of this hard-to-coral city-girl. Add to this mix a little mystery, intrigue and danger, and you've got a read that will tickle your funny-bone and warm your heart.

Cowboy romance with spark!

Girl gets tired of city life. Girl moves to ranch. Girl falls in love with hunky cowboy next door. Suspense. Sex. Love. Happy Ending. It may sound like the normal romance book featuring cowboys, but there is a lot of wonderful story in between each of those sentence's. The author does a wonderful job of making this story flow smoothly and giving the reader everything they come to expect from a romantic western love story. You get the handsome cowboy,(just look at the cover), the strong heroine, plenty of suspense and intrigue throughout and steamy love scenes all in a nice little book. The author is new to me, but is now on my automatic to buy list. [...]

great debut

i am into cowboy romance and when i saw this cover i had to give it a try. i am glad i did because this was an awesome book. Libby Brown decides to leave her atlanta condo and move to Wyoming to raise chickens!! She meets her next door rancher neighbor Luke Rawlins and things heat up from there. She is an investigative reporter and comes across an unsolved murder. that's when the trouble starts. there is some sex scenes but also more suspense as well. i was able to figure out who was doing the threatening!!! i don't want to give too much away other than to tell you to buy this book. i can't wait for her next book which will be out in September!!
