Counteroffensive

Counteroffensive is my second poetry collection. My first, Bleeding Heart, was published in 1996. So, this is certainly due. But it is not overdue. That's because I am a political performance poet and human rights writer. If Counteroffensive was, for instance, my sixth poetry collection, it would mean I'd been failing to do my job. That's because we performance poets write most of our poems to be heard rather than read. And we ranting poets write our poems to reflect what's going on in the world around us today. Such poems live on the stage in the here and now. Many are out of date come the new year; others, like Save The Libraries, with reference to the UK's Prime Minister, require constant updating due to Number 10's well-oiled revolving door. Copyright issues have resulted in my much-loved poem Paddington Bear: The Untold Truth not being included here. To enjoy that, you'll have to catch me live on stage.
