A great book for group or individual devotion!

I found the book very refreshing and love the personal touches that Jane uses to help other people realize that she is touched and affected by a lot of issues in her own personal life that we all experience. The layout of each chapter is very helpful for personal devotion but would work great at a group level as well.

Come Closer is at once thought-provoking and relaxing, interesting yet soothing. Things that don't always go together! So many books put your brain through such a work out, you're exhausted at the end. But I came away from Come Closer with my mind stretched and strengthened, yet my soul rested. It's a beautiful read.

Thought-provoking rea

Jane Rubietta in Come Closer explores the idea of coming. She writes about coming to Jesus for love, for adoption, for abundance, and healing. Using personal experiences and situations, she delves into the meaning of Jesus' words when He said the word "Come" in various places in the Bible. The fifteen invitations from Jesus to the believer are thought provoking and focus on how we can reach beyond the normal life and enjoy an extraordinary life by coming closer to Him. Rubietta's style of writing is very easy to read. She writes in simple, yet profound sentences that cause the reader to stop and think. Each chapter starts off with a verse from the Bible about coming and also a pertinent hymn. At the beginning of the book she encourages readers not to fly through the book, but to read each of the verse and to meditate on it. Each chapter also has additional thoughts and discussion questions at the end, making this book an excellent choice for a group study. Even though the book is geared towards a female audience, male readers can also benefit from many of the truths presented in this book. Armchair Interviews says: Worth the read.
