I teach a Bible study class for 11th and 12th grade students at our church, and read this book to help refresh my mind as to what issues college freshmen face so I could help my students prepare for this transition.College Bound is a great book for high school seniors with plans to go to college. Kathleen Winkler does an excellent job of pointing out the challenges college freshman face. She intertwines statistics, studies, interviews and her own experiences in an easy-reading manner to present both the good and bad. Mrs. Winkler never lectures the reader, but presents him or her with the facts and the pros and cons for the possible choices that can be made.Winkler's book lets college-bound students get a picture of what their school might be like, whether it is in their hometown, or in another part of the country. It is also a good book for parents to read to help them prepare their adult child for the college experience. I highly recommend it for both!
