This is the story of Consuela, a young girl living in a big city in turn of the 20th century America. Among the many things that fill Consuela's life are the many workhorses that bring cartloads of milk, ice and other much-needed supplies. Consuela knows all of the horses, and loves them all - the large and the small, the young and the old. Overall, I found this to be a very touching story. I liked little Consuela and the urban life she lived that has changed so very much in the intervening one hundred years. This is a very nice book, one that I highly recommend!
