Stunning Developments.

I had been hearing about the Civil War Series of comics and wanted to check them out. First they were delivered in a rapid fashion and well packaged. The story was fascinating and the artwork superb. The major players (Iron Man, The Submariner) provided a good framework for the development of the cause of the War.

Marvel's "Illuminati"

You know, this is just a great book, a great story leading up to another great story arc, and a cataclysmic event for the Marvel Universe. And really, who else would it be other than these men (Xavier, Reed Richards, Tony Stark, Namor, Black Bolt, and Black Pather--did I forget anyone). They may not be your favorites, but who else would be on this council?

The Road to...Planet Hulk and Thor's Return

Only three of the issues collected here (Amazing Spider-Man #529 - 531) are directly connected to the Civil War. Nevertheless, this issue sets up the status quo of the Marvel Universe for many years to come. The Illuminati issue is a prelude to Planet Hulk/World War Hulk, while the Fantastic Four issues foreshadow the impending return of Thor (which was teased but never happened during the Marvel Civil War). Marvel fans will enjoy the entire package here, as long as you're not expecting every issue to be strictly a Civil War setup.

The beggining of Civil War.

This book presents the previous actions that lead the superhuman registration and the civil war. You will see the point of view of Iron Man, Fantastic Four, Spiderman and the AVENGERS ILUMINATTI(a new union of superheroes), also you will see Iron Man doing whatever he can to get what he wants. The art are excellent especialy in Amazing Spiderman (Ron Garney), well you have to read this book if you want to understand the facts around the Civil War.

The Road to Civil War is a must buy. It gives the warm-up to an exciting and chaotic future of the Marvel universe. Be sure to pick up the rest of the Civil War series when they come in.
