The sky is failing The sky is failing Chicken Little and her feathered friends are all aflutter when she gets a mysterious bump on the head. Steven Kellogg's hilarious retelling and irresistible illustrations bring fresh delight to this timeless classic of chain reaction panic.
I disagree with the low-rating whiners seeking to relive some long-lost childhood moment with this book. This story is for kids, and they love it! This updated version of the Henny Penny (waaay outdated) classic puts a late-20th cent. spin on it. It's a great vocabulary builder, especially for Spanish-speaking learners, and comes in a Spanish version (original: Pollita Pequeñita '91) for bilingual comparison. I used this charming story of Kellogg's often in the classroom. It worked well. In fact, I used most of this prolific author's material. This from a 35-year veteran of the elementary classrooms of Los Angeles' low socio-economic neighborhoods.

Steven Kellogg does not disappoint in this rendition of Chicken Little. As always, wonderful pictures, a surprising array of characters and great subtle trickery. My kindergarten students enjoyed it tremendously.

Chicken Little is a very exciting and funny childrens book. it's about a little chicken who gets hit on the head with an accorn and believes that the sky is falling. the little chicken makes all the other chickens in the town believe that the sky was falling. I really enjoyed reading it.

Weston Woods (now part of Scholastic) made an animated version of this book, voiced by Helen Hunt and Hank Azaria, I think it's much better as a cartoon! This is available on DVD from Scholastic (it's an extra on the "Little Red Riding Hood" DVD). Hank Azaria does a great job with the Foxy Loxy character.
Modern Version of Henny Penny

If you are looking for the old fashioned "The sky is falling, must tell the King" then don't buy this book. The book you are looking for is titled "Henny Penny". Both books depict the same chain reaction of hysteria and are both well written. But, if you want the one that you remember from many moons ago, get Henny Penny.
