A children's book for ages 2-7. The story of having a dream and following your heart to fulfill that dream. Chelsea, a "city" goldfish lives in an artificial pond in a flower shop window. She yearns... This description may be from another edition of this product.
"Like Nemo, Chelsea learns that while things don't always go according to plan, following your heart can lead to a happy ending." Before you even open this book you will notice the vivid colors, the water motion in the art and Chelsea's personality. She is an adorable goldfish with a bow on the top of her head. While the art is definitely the highlight of this book, the story can at times make you laugh out loud (especially the part with the shark). Not only does it rhyme, it is quite cute. Chelsea has a dream and she decides to take a journey out into the world. She has been living in a small artificial pond in the window of a flower shop and loves to tell her friends about her dreams as white moonbeams shine down onto the pond. Her friends don't want to leave their pond, but Chelsea bravely jumps out of the pond and makes her way to a natural setting where her dream comes true. Along the way she encounters dangers (a dog) and even takes a ride on top of a taxi. The story of Chelsea will encourage children to follow their dreams and will delight your inner child. While we don't normally think of fish walking along pathways in a city or park setting, somehow this story works its magic and will encourage the idea that "anything is possible." ~The Rebecca Review
A rhythmic and engaging text

Chelsea is a city goldfish who is just not content to stay in the artificial pond of a flower shop. Chelsea dreams of finding a new home and leaves the flower shop in search of one. Along the way she faces a series of obstacles ranging from falling into a pile of trash to confronting a scary dog. It is Chelsea's heroic courage and persevering determination that finally result in the realization of her dream. Kimberley Levy's rhythmic and engaging text is wonderfully augmented and showcased by Terry Herman's colorful illustrations. Chelsea's New Home is an enthusiastically recommended addition to any personal, school or community library picturebook collection for young readers.
