Baron Copley has a secret. He's bankrupt. He has Roxwealde Castle and an inebriated valet. He needs a rich wife. So he invites the most eligible ladies to a house party. But to transform his dilapidated manor into a setting for romance, he needs a hostess with flair and imagination like Miss Stanhope Grimsley. But he never expected her to be beautiful.
I'm not sure why this book works, but it does. I didn't want to put it down. The plot keeps moving with the masquerade of a young lady pretending to be a society hostess, a mixed up house party, and even a pet lion. Two drawbacks of this book: too many characters are hard to keep straight; too many coincidences / fate situations that stretch the imagination. On the whole, though, excellent!
Prepare to spend a winsome afternoon with this book.
