Wonderfully humorous and true to life.... but please remember that this was written in an earlier time.... long before people in the 21st century got so obsessed about telling other people how to take care of animals. I found this novel to be very enjoyable. It's about Jack Smith and family living on Mount Washington and all the animals who show up in the process. It is heart-warming (as his writing usually is)and insightful. His style of writing is simple, concise and refreshing, definetly So. California style.
