Mom started a scrapbook years ago, but when she leaves the house, Carl and baby Madeleine decide to update it with their own mementos. Carl's many fans will welcome this charming glimpse inside his world, based on some real and not so real experiences in the author's life. This almost wordless fantasy includes winning entries from the Carl's Scrapbook contest.
With the current scrapbooking obsession, I'm surprised they haven't reprinted this Carl book. Carl and Madeline make a scrapbook while the mama is outside, and like all Carl books, it is primarily visual, not text-based. The combination of things you can remember from other Carl books with great antique images and "objects" is beautiful, and would be great for a game of "I Spy" as well.
Excellent kids book...

Great book to read and share with our son. Having had a rottie, the Carl books bring out the true nature of these gentle giants. What a great series... -TB Pearland, TX

I just love the Carl books. They have an old fashioned 50s feel to them. The quality of the pictures just take you back to a simpler time of life. I love Carl, his character is so sweet and the stories are so whimsically clever. If you love dogs and children you will love Carls adventures. I especially liked this book because you got a sense of family through it. There were even puppy pictures of Carl! This book is a treasure.

As an avid scrapbooker, I've been collecting children's story books with a scrapbooking theme. This book is a gem! I've always loved the "Carl Books" and have enjoyed this adorable pup's adventures through the years. Someday, my grandchildren will sit on my lap and we'll look at this book together. Then we'll make our own scrapbook.
Carl and baby Madeleine make a scrapbook for Carl

Who could pass up this book when they first see the cover? Abeautiful illustration of a dog and child is the beginning of yourjourney to making the scrapbook. While most of the pages are filledwith actual "photographs" there are still pages full of illustrations without words as the baby and dog go about finishing Carl's portion of the book. It takes four paws to hold down a picture with glue! Remember, mother is outside and Carl and baby are supposedly watching a video. They must hurry along and finish before mother comes inside. But how can you look innocent when you are a dog with glue and tape stuck all over you!
