From the time she was a little girl, Cammi Granato dreamed of winning an Olympic gold medal. The only girl playing hockey, a boys-only game, Cammi was often singled out and hurt by players on opposing teams. She would not quit, though. After years of struggling to make her way in a men's sport, Cammi earned a hockey scholarship to attend Providence, where she led her team to two hockey championships. As captain of the very first United States women's hockey team in 1998, Cammi became the first American woman to score a hockey goal in an Olympics. She went on to lead her team to a gold medal, and realized her dream.
