"Call Me Ruth"

This book is great for teaching a young child about immigration. This book contains a clear description of what it was like to be a young, Jewish girl coming to America. If you want to teach a young Jewish girl about her heritage, buy this book!

Great book

Call Me Ruth was such an interesting book that I could not put it down. Ruth has an embarrasing mother they both came from Russia to live in America, with Ruths father. In a few months he died. So Ruth and her mother live Aunt Sadie,Uncel Barney and their children. I recommend this book to everyone.

Excellent

I am a fifth grade teacher and have used this book for the past two or three years. I find it very engaging and a great link to teach children about the immigration waves of the early 1900's, the labor movement, the mood of New York City, and many other topics.The children find the book very interesting.
