* Introduces difficult concepts by using intuitive and concrete examples to motivate students.* Concise and accurate writing style with key concepts developed in an easily understandable manner.* Provides an early introduction to calculus and differential equations.* "Remarks" sections warn of potential pitfalls and point out milestones in the historical development of calculus.
This is an excellent introductory text for teaching calculus at the high school or college level. Topics are introduced in a logical order and the presentation is very readable--something that cannot be said about some other calculus texts like the one by Hughes-Hallett et. al. where the explanations are unclear and knowledge of many concepts is assumed before those topics are actually presented. It's a shame that it's no longer in print because it would spare a lot of students the agony of trying to learn calculus from a different text.
