An introduction to Burma, site of beautiful and historic religious temples and land of constant fighting. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I recommend this book for both children and adults, as it is quite frank and realistic. I wish I would have read it before I became involved with helping Burmese refugees in America. In a well-organized format, it describes the superstitions, diversity, and political/economic angst of Burma. However, it does not describe the second class status of women, as accurately as the book Cultures of the World: Burma -- something I feel is key to understanding these people and Buddhism.
