Beverly Smithson grew up with all brothers. It is not surprising that she gets along better with the male Utah State University students in the neighboring apartment than she does with her female... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I read this book a few years ago and went on a hunt to find the others in the series because I enjoyed Susan's writing so much! The pictures she paints with words are beautiful, insightful, funny, exciting, sad, joyful, the whole gamut of emotions. I liked Beverly because she was an honest, real character who isn't perfect. She isn't the girl that everyone would pick out as the beauty to date or the brain of the group but just an average, ordinary girl that I could really identify with. Beverly is the "guy's girl" the one whom they can be comfortable with, the one they can ask advice on dating girls, the one that is always in the background. (Pretty much that is the role I always played with the guys). The story moves along well and the other characters are likeable. I had to laugh at the visiting teaching gift giver strategy (yep, guilty a time or two) but I thought it was well placed in the book and helped the story along. I felt uplifted when I finished this book and I think you might too. Enjoy
