Repairs on the Golden Gate Bridge Uncover a Century-Old Murder

Walk through Doors to the Past via a new series of historical stories of romance and adventure.

Underwater archaeologist Kayla Richardson is called to the Golden Gate Bridge where repairs to one of the towers uncovers two human remains from the late 1800s and the 1930s. The head of the bridge restoration is Steven Michaels, who dives with Kayla, and a friendship develops between them. But as the investigation heats up and gold is found that dates back to the gold rush, more complications come into play that threaten them both. Could clues leading to a Gold Rush era mystery that was first discovered during the building of the bridge still ignite an obsession worth killing for?

Wonderful dual timeline mystery/romance

Bridge of Gold is a wonderful historical fiction with a contemporary timeline as well. I enjoy dual timeline stories and this one did not disappoint. The author, Kimberley Woodhouse does a great job telling a story about repairs on the Golden Gate Bridge that lead to a years-old murder mystery. She has added lots of interesting tidbits of information regarding the building of the bridge, sunken ships full of gold, and underwater diving in years gone by. Blend that with danger, mystery, and, of course, a romance, and voilà, a book that is hard to put down. Readers who love a blend of history and contemporary fiction will not want to miss this book. I was pleased to see Bridge of Gold is part of a series (Doors to the Past) and will be looking for others in the series to read. I was given a complimentary copy of the book from Barbour Publishing and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.

Bridge of Gold

BRIDGE OF GOLD by Kimberley Woodhouse This is a dual timeline book, you follow several people through events beginning with the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge in 1933 and following others in the present time. It's a bit of a mystery, you think the book will go one way and it goes another. There's a lot of folklore about ships of gold from the 1850s being lost in the water channel beneath the Golden Gate Bridge, with dedicated treasure hunters struggling to see if the rumors are true. Steven, a bridge restorer, has found something unique in the water under the bridge in the present time. Kayla, an underwater archeologist is called in to consult. They are given journals from the earlier time when the bridge was under construction, both of them finding the history intriguing while finding the hints about the rumored gold exciting, but not necessary or essential to their work. Highly recommend it to anyone who likes well-written mysteries, history, inspirational, treasure novels, or a little romance in their novels. Many thanks to #barbourbooks @barbourbooks for the complimentary copy of #bridgeofgold I was under no obligation to post a review.
