Twenty years after the apocalypse, Merry suspects her 12-year-old son DJ has cancer, the disease that claimed the life of her husband, Sal, and, more recently, her mother. Robin has access to an armoured electric vehicle to help them make the journey, but he's fresh off an epic bender.
While DJ is thrilled to experience life on the road, grief-addled Merry must contend with the locals, drunk Robin and endless questions from an orphan they pick up en route.
