Three little girls. One accident. A lifetime of lies. From the bestselling author of The Dead Ex. Three little girls set off to school one sunny morning. Within an hour, one of them is dead. Fifteen years later, Kitty can't speak and has no memory of the accident that's to blame. She lives in an institution, unlikely ever to leave. But that doesn't keep her from being frightened when she encounters an eerily familiar face. Art teacher Alison looks fine on the surface. But the surface is a lie. She's struggling to make ends meet and to forget the past. When a teaching job at a prison opens up, she takes it, despite her fears. Maybe this is her chance to set things right. Then she starts to receive alarming notes; next, her classroom erupts in violence. Meanwhile, someone is watching both Kitty and Alison. Someone who never forgot what happened that day. Someone who wants revenge. And only another life will do. . .
BLOOD SISTERS by Jane Corey
This turned out to be so much more than I thought it would be!
Not only is this a story of sisters and a terrible tragedy that happened, it’s a story of parent/child relationship dynamics, sibling rivalry and family drama. It also touches on carrying shame/guilt and the responsibility/struggle of caring for someone with special needs. The author covered a lot of heavy topics well, with sensitivity and compassion.
The characters were well written and fully developed. I liked the alternating POVs (and timelines) between Alison and Kitty. Neither of them were likeable, but they were easy to empathize/sympathize with.
Did some of the situations feel a bit too farfetched and coincidental? Yes, but not enough to take me completely out of the story. I enjoyed the twists and turns as it kept me in suspense and I didn’t want to stop reading.
Overall, a complex yet riveting psychological thriller that will keep you guessing. I will be adding more of Jane Corry’s books to my TBR list!

This book was okay, slow read. I kept reading to see if it was going to pick up but did not. I didn’t like it but I also didn’t hate it.
